Why I do This

Recently a customer of mine shared the following story with me that beautifully encapsulates why I started Dueling Grandmas and what keeps me inspired as I keep working to make my dreams real.

My customer has some very dear friends, a husband and wife, on of whom (Fred) was in hospice bravely continuing his battle against terminal brain cancer. To let her friends know that she loved them and was thinking of them during this trying time she sent them a package of shortbread with a little note expressing her thoughts.

At hospice her friend shared a Wee Bited shortbread cookie with Fred. Fred smiled and enjoyed the cookie so much that he asked for another one. Brain cancer has wreaked havoc on Fred's cognitive functions and when this little shortbread cookie brought a moment of lucid joy to Fred, it brought even greater joy to his family, because they knew that Fred, for at least a brief moment, was in a good place.

It meant so much to his family that they shared their story with my customer, and I'm so thankful she shared the story with me.

I truly hope that when you enjoy one of my shortbread cookies that you too are smiling and in a good place.

Sincerely,

Ken Velky
